  CLOVIS, N.M. (BP) -- Baptist Convention of New Mexico (BCNM) Executive Director Joseph Bunce announced Tuesday (Oct. 22) he will retire from his position effective February 2021, following 15 years of service as the state's lead missionary.

  Bunce announced his retirement during his executive director's report at the BCNM annual meeting, held Oct. 21-23 at Central Baptist Church in Clovis. He reminded New Mexico Baptists, "All of us are interims," telling those in attendance that his job "has been to bridge one generation to the next." Read More

• 103 people saved during Hispanic revivals campaign

  ALBUQUERQUE (BP) -- Twenty-nine churches participated in the Baptist Convention of New Mexico's (BCNM) 2019 Hispanic Simultaneous Revivals campaign. The number rose from 24 churches during the 2018 campaign.

  Based on reports from 28 of the 29 participating churches, a total of 783 non-Christian Hispanics attended the outreach events. The effort resulted in the recording of 103 professions of faith and 12 baptisms. Read More

  LAS CRUCES, N.M. (BP) -- New Mexico Baptists approved a 2019 budget, elected new convention officers, emphasized the importance of Cooperative Program giving and introduced new convention partnerships during the Baptist Convention of New Mexico's 2018 annual meeting.

  They also announced partnerships with Union University and personal finance expert Dave Ramsey.

  Two hundred sixty-nine messengers and 89 guests from 93 of the BCNM's 338 cooperating churches attended the Oct. 22-24 meeting hosted by Mesilla Park Community Church in Las Cruces, N.M. The 2018 theme was "God's Unshakeable Kingdom" derived from Hebrews 12:25-29, in which the author states God's promise that, through Jesus, people can enter into "a kingdom that cannot be shaken."   BLOOMFIELD, N.M. (BP) -- Messengers to the Baptist Convention of New Mexico increased the percentage of Cooperative Program receipts they will forward to the Southern Baptist Convention for the third year in a row and heard what may have been the first convention sermon delivered in Spanish at any Baptist state convention.

  TAOS, N.M. (BP) -- Messengers to the Baptist Convention of New Mexico increased the percentage of Cooperative Program receipts they will forward to the Southern Baptist Convention for the second year in a row and adopted the Baptist Faith and Message as their statement of faith.

  Gathering Oct. 25-26 at the Sagebrush Inn and Conference Center in Taos, N.M., 288 messengers and 92 visitors represented 99 of the convention's 335 cooperating churches. Read More

  ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BP) -- Kevin G. Parker has been named as the 15th editor of the Baptist New Mexican, succeeding John Loudat, whose April 30 retirement after 21 years of service caps the longest tenure in the newsjournal's history.
